Disinfection with Chlorine and Ammonia
Chlorine and ammonia were added to the water to produce chloramine, which persists
in water for many days and acts as a safeguard against subsequent contamination.
The plant was housed in the room now known as the Ron Mapp room and used
by the Trust as a meeting and catering area.
